My first knife pleat and Tartan

Compleated my first knife pleat/Tartan today, except for loops. Man it is difficult to line up stripes on fell. I pressed and pinned before I sewed, if anyone has any pointers on that it would be a big help. My wife picked up the material at Joann's, it is a poly blend. Lets see if it holds better than the cotton I was using. I pressed the pleats on the wood floor, maybe that will help.

Nice Job.

Barb T. has some nice pointers in her book on kiltmaking about keeping the horizontal stripes lined up whilst sewing.

My guess is that the PV will do a better job of holding a crease. I have found that Polyester does if you use lots of steam and pressure. (Just don't get the Iron too hot!)

Looks good. Looks like it's time to try wool or pv.
