    My first (successful) homemade kilt

Hey, all - long time lurker, first time poster.
This is my first "successful" homemade kilt - five yards of lighter weight worsted wool that I found at an antique store and made into a knife pleated kilt. Designed mostly after my Sport Kilt, but with more pleats, buckles instead of velcro and elastic, and the reversed first pleat.

I learned a fair bit while making this, and I'm happy enough with it that I've worn it out three days this week. My only big beef is how the pleats seem to bunch a bit right at the bottom of the fell.
There's more to learn, so I've just ordered The Art of Kiltmaking from the Scottish Tartans Museum to help with the next one.

I'm sure you'll be hearing more from me soon enough.
    Thanks!

    Very nice!
For me, there is nothing in this world that holds the same fascinating appeal as watching the backside of well kilted man...

It looks nice to me, and I'm sure you're very proud of it.

I like the star in your floor, too.

Excellent job. The kilt looks very sharp, also you will learn a lot from the book.

Thanks for the compliments. It's been a hit at work, with customers aged between eight and eighty. Been heckled by a couple of people driving by, but their effect is thoroughly cancelled out by all the positive attention.
Already pinned the pleats for my next kilt - a 6 yard Royal Stewart. So much easier with the tartan lines to guide your pleating - I think I'll be avoiding solid colours for a while.
