This is a public link so anyone should be able to view it. This is my 3rd kilt. I had help from my mom a good sewer. This one is solid as hell we even went with kevlar stitches for the parts that will have the most pressure put on them. I got this material from martin mills and was amazed how well it holds a pleat and irons down for being made of polyester. I would recommend using this type of material for sure over some stuff you might find in a fabric store. These pics don't do it great justice it looks better than that. My only problem is I ran about 1.5" short on the correct length of pleat but I made the front apron 1" longer and that made it look pretty good by the end.
This is Welsh St. David's tartan pleated to the sett. This is the first tartan that has any slight connection to my family tree that I've owned. There is a bit of welsh on my mother's side of the family with the last name Rice.
I had enough extra material to make a kilt for my 7 year old daughter it's about half way done I went with box pleats with it and hers is looking even better than mine.
