Old butcher knife blade to sgian dubh?
What do you think? an old wood handle butcher knife shaped out to a sgian dubh. Changing out the handle mind you.

You may have to search for it but someone did take a chef's knife and did a DIY project where they cut the blade down to sghian dhub proportions and slapped a handle on it...I'm trying to search but getting error messages.

If there is a sgian blade in there you can find it. Remember you might need to anneal the blade before working it and then harden and temper.
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

I have a chef's knife blade that was broken off and reshaped waiting to be finished into a sgian right now.

Raptor is the guy who did the sgian dubh from a larger knife, and I bought it, here are some photos

Hmm, I have done the same thing with a chefs knife but raptors workmanship owns mine one hundred times over. It can be done and it is fun and rewarding to turn something ordinary into something beautiful.

I took a couple of shots of it against a lighter tartan so that you could see it better.
