    Our try at an X-Kilt

We're (my wife and kids and I) taking a 2 week vacation at my Mother's home in North Carolina. We thought this would be a great time to try our hand at an X-Kilt. My wife is both crafty and frugal, so this is waaaaay better than buying me alot more kilts. My mother was once employed running the costume shop fo a theater, ie she has the sewing skills we're sorely lacking. We picked up some poly/cotton material at fabric shop we stumbled upon in a near by town. I'm very excited!! Here are some pics from the first two days of work.

    My mother hemming the fabric

My wife and mother planning out the pleats

Measuring and Chalking the pleats (my wife and I did this as a team)

    Ironing the pleats

The view from the sewing machine, just to show that we're not all work and no play!

What fun! ...and wow, what a setting to be sewing, too. That's some house.

I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

    Smile

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments. We're back at it this morning. We have to take tomorrow off, but will hopefully finish Friday or Saturday.

We're in Edenton, and the house is right on the Abemarle Sound. Map (Click the pink circle with a number in it). Although the aerial photo are several years out of date (happens often on google.)

I added the location to the pic after furrycelt asked the question although I do usually add them.
