Pink Panache

So, it's been too long since I broke out the sewing machine. I realized I had made a few variations of an X-Kilt (corduroy and alternating tartan with black), but I had not yet actually made a basic X-Kilt yet!

Panache has been asking for something to knock around the garden in, so we went to the fabric store together. He kept getting distracted by various corduroys, but I told him I just wasn't up for that again (not yet, maybe next year). I just want to make it perfectly clear that I was not responsible for this fabric. It was 100% his choice. I kept trying to steer him towards the blander, tan or khaki colors. But nooooo, he had to have this.

So, without further ado, the material for the "Pink Panache" X-Kilt. It's a cotton/poly blend and is NOT a twill, so no alignment of twill lines to worry about.

And this is the color it turned the wash water (I washed it on hot 3 times before the water stopped turning this color):

Today, I measured and ripped, joined two lengths, hemmed and marked the pleats. It will have a 10" A-shaped apron, and 11 3" pleats. Waist of 37", rump of 43", fell of 10", drop of 23" (so now everyone knows my husband's measurements ). Here I was measuring the drop to prepare to rip lengths:

Because of the color, I will not torture you all with too many step by step pics this time, since I've already posted two ad nauseum X-Kilt pictorials:

We will of course need to see the Pink Panache in all it's Glory once it is done, on the man himself.

Well, you did say on another thread that Jamie is a metro-sexual . . . I think he's going to need to borrow Ham's boa to go with this kilt.

Perhaps a rhinestone-studded sporran?
