The Poetical Works of Robert Burns
I've been keeping these pictures for today.
I finished working on a rebinding job of "The Poetical Works of Robert Burns"It was printed in 1821 and was in a very sorry state, lots of loose pages the covers dis-bound, and it basically unreadable in that condition.
I had to separate all the leaves and guard ( re join) them with japanese tissue, then re sew all the signatures over cords. I decided to use heavy boards instead of the very thin ones that were derelict.
Then covered with lovely naturally tanned goatskin , which I then embossed with a picture of Burns and his signature on the covers. Finally a slip case with ribbon was made to protect it, and I used Burns check , as a little artistic conceit.
All of the work was archival, so hopefully it will last another few hundred years.

Absolutely wonderful job Paul. Bravo.

Absolutely wonderful work.
We have an 1852 addition whose cover is falling apart.
You inspire me to seek out someone to restore it.
Cheers
