    Purse I'm making my 11yr old

    The bag is goat skin and the flap is 14oz cowhide. It's a bit nerve-racking painting such small detail but this is what it looks like before I put the protective coating of sheen on it:

    That's awesome!! I love the rose. So out of curiosity, why 14 oz leather for the flap? Seems a bit thick to me!

    the Flap on my Sporran is 16oz leather. its just what we hand on hand.

    Aside from the fact it's what I had on hand at the time, the flap is thick so it can be tooled [as you can see]. Thinner leather can be tooled but not as deeply as something like this.
