RE: Waist Coat
In a previous thread, some had requested shots of the back of the waist coat I made from remnants of my tartan. Also, requests were made to see it with the kilt. I was not certain it would be the correct size for use with the kilt, but after taking the pix...well, I'll see what others think as well.

Super! Smashing! Great job! Now put on a formal kilt jacket of some kind, any kind--Argyll, PC, doublet in some cut, formal sporran, diced hose and buckle shoes, and you will have the most superb ensemble. As I suggested in your original thread, search the threads for bias cut waistcoat, and all sorts of possiblities will be revealed. Really outstanding work!

WOW! Let me be the first to congratulate you. THAT is a work of art! All you need is a tweed jacket, bonnet, horse hair sporran and diced hose and you're ready for the mid-19th century (and by that I mean a MacLeay illustration ala HERE).
Purely and simply awesome.

The waistcoat looks great with the kilt - very well done! An older style doublet with a high neck, like my favourite, the Sheriffmuir, would work very well with this cut of waistcoat.

Wow, I really like the cut of that waistcoat. Especially up around the neck. You just don't see 'em made like that these days (or at least I haven't).
I have another kilt with extra material on order, and a tartan waistcoat is exactly what I had in mind for the extra yardage. Are you interested in commission work?

Very nice job. I too like the collar area of the waistcoat. Did you follow a particular pattern or "make it up" as you went along. Asking because I have been thinking of making a waistcoat also.
