    Re-worked sporran

A few years back my grandmother gave me a mink stole she used to wear when she and my grandfather went out. She figured I could do something with it for my 18th century self. It just sat in my box of stuff waiting inspiration. I finally decided on making a bit dressier sporran than my brown daywear sporran. I ordered one of SWK black sporrans and disassembled it. I combined two of the mink backs and attached it to the front piece of leather. I then sewed the gusset back on and sewed to the back just like it had been. I used three of the mink tails to replace the tassels.

    The raw materials.

    The end product.

    Worn with the SWK saffron.

Excellent work!! Do you have any left-overs that you'd sell?

That's a pretty nice transformation. But with that flap, it still looks like you just put fur on a cheap sporran - - which is what you did after all. Why didn't you put some fur on the flap also??

Off topic: That's the first pic I've seen that shows the SWK Saffron has a pattern to it and isn't a solid color.

    I have the same sporran

That looks very good, I have the same sporran, and when I walk, the three tassels make so much noise I always end up holding my hand over them.

I suppose I could use rabbit fur and sew or liquid nail the fur unto the front and flap, perhaps if I could locate some rabbits feet I could use those as tassels.

Well, most folks aren't going to know that is on a cheap sporran. I had thought about it but wanted the black above the fur and I'm looking for shiny pretty to mount in the center. It's kind of in the category of if they're close enough to figure it out they are either friends or fixing to get hurt.
