    The Sgain Shoe

We've had people make Sgain Don'ts, Sgain Brew's, and Sgain everything else but last week one of our members asked about something I had not thought about.

So I now hereby present... The Sgain Shoe!!!!!

Ta-ta-de-ta. Let the trumpets announce, let the heralds proclaim.

I took a one piece plastic Safety Sgain from my display and cut the blade portion off.

If you will notice in the middle of the handle of these is a really nice Celtic Knot. But it is molded in black plastic so it does not show up well.
So I had some aluminum tape used by heating duct guys. I cut off a small piece and burnished it over the Celtic Knot. Working the metal into the design with the end of a matchstick.

Then i used a dremel tool to hollow out a socket in the handle where the blade was cut of and epoxyed in the blade of a shoe horn.

    here is the other side.

Total time from start to finish about 20 min.

Looks like the shoe horn might make a bulge in the hose, but I really like what you did with the aluminum tape on the celtic knot.

Ya, and aluminum would have been a very, very rare metal back in the early days of... Oh, never mind.

That's kind of a neat idea.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    Very Cool!

I was thinking along the lines of a Sgian Comb myself. Now all I need is some time.

Like I said I think the total time I have in this project is about 20 min.

Tonight I think I'll take the blade back out and shorten it some.

An there does not seem to be any bulge in my hose. Here is a shot of the Sgain Shoe on edge, side by side the original.

That's as good an idea and as well executed as I could imagine. Good on you! I might have to play with that myself.

Well thought out Steve. I showed my wife the photos of your creation, and asked if she would like me to carry a sgain shoe so that I may on bended knee attend to her shoes at a moments notice. She didn't answer,...but her smile spoke volumes....
