    sgian dubh

I finished the muzzle loading rifle I was building for a friend and had some bench time and a blade blank and antler so..........

blade is high carbon from sheffield

I used a thick piece of Elk antler tip then thinned it out on the sides to make it ride on leg better

inlaid a pewter button to match the pewter bolster

Now all I have to do is find a home for it.

Absolutely beautiful work, sir. I especially like the way you've made the sheath to come up to where the hilt will sit proud of the hose. Very functional, as well as good looking!

Joe I fixed your photo links, lovely sgian dubh you have there. If I had not recently bought one of the Bullman Studios sgians from the STM I'd be all over this one great work.

Very nice work. If I might ask, where did you get the bolster from?

Thanks for the link...a very good tutorial. Could you use the same process for brass, or would it take too much heat to melt it?
