    Sgian dubh trade

    Hi all,

Just finished up this sgian dubh I am trading for a kilt and thought I'd show it to the rest while posting it for the receiver.

It is African blackwood and is a full tang. We discussed in a thread a while back if you guys would consider a full tang good enough to wear. Let me know if it is?

Leg side, this is the side you normally put the makers mark even if it is the plain side -

Here is the outward side with all the carving -

To prove it is a full tang -

Since I couldn't put a stone on the top I put some carving here to give some interest -

Full tang is great...nothing like it and I truly like the treatment on the top...full metal thistle. If you're considering making more along these lines, I'd encourage you to do it.

OMG. 'Tis surely a functional work of art!

What sort of sheath will it get?

    Thanks all.

Since my leather working skills suck the new owner will be making the sheath.

Very nice! You could definitely market those. The only enhancement I can envision would be to add a bit of your lovely filework to the spine. It's a thing of beauty... Thanks for sharing.

    Wonderful!

I'll see if I can get the kilt out the door Tomorrow. (failing that, Monday...)

I can't wait to get it.
