Ok, let me introduce Pepé MacPugh.
(OK, so he's a little "Gangta" at the moment)
The name comes from Dana and the surname spelling is due to Bikeolounger.
He started life as a Stillwater Economy sporran that I used for parts. After disassembling the sporran I added a skunk pelt I got for $25 from Moscow Hide and Fur to the front and used some vinyl and lined that with some poly liner fabric (looks and feels great!)
The tasels are from Tandy Leather and are Hourse hair (Brown and white) that are attached via black wire to the braided leather bolo cord.
The sides are intentionally made about a 1/2" wider to give a little more storage space for some 3" elastic sewn to the back to hold my back up. The geometry problem with that is that I had to raise the snap almost to the very top of the body to align with the flap and close when loaded up.
Since I had to move the snap (plus the added thickness of the fur) I had to replace the "post" with a longer version (3/8") that I got directly from YKK. One of the perks of living in the town they are based in, I guess.
Oh yeah, I had to handstitch the whole thing too. My fingers are still sore.
