Skunk Sporran with Cantle

A fun aspect of economic recession has been the incentive it provides to make things for myself. For some time I've wanted a skunk sporran, and a local trading post happened to have a nice pelt for $9.00. I bought an affordable cantle from SWK and found a discarded leather briefcase. Here are all the components, below:

Here's how the front looks finished:
View from the back...

Interior cloth lining I glued in...

And here's how it looks with my IOS kilt

One side looks larger in this photo, but I sewed a little "pucker" in there and it's symmetrical now. Being thrifty is fun--learn to do more than I thought I could!

Looks nice! Over the years I've seen many 'sporran start up' companies whose products don't look half that nice!

I really like the 'inverted V' stripe in that pelt.

Thanks Rocky, high praise from a fine craftsman like yourself! I neglected to mention in my post that's my USAK IOS in the picture.

Aye, lad, that's how it's done.

That's a beautiful piece of stitchery you've got there. Congrats on making something of value.
Got any more of them?

That is a great looking sporran!

I don't suppose you have pics of it in process...? I'd love to see them if you do.
