Snowed in...so starting a new kilt

We got enough snow and cold air to keep me close to the house today (and school is cancelled tomorrow, too! )

What better time to start a new hiking kilt for next summer!

Sounds good to me. Woodland digital's got good colours in it. Looking forward to the pictures. Good luck on it.

    Cheers.

Hope it goes well and you enjoy making them. Probably better than hopping down a mountin with a broken ankle. Have fun.

    I'm envious of you brother.

I'm just a few hours away from you and nary a snowflake -- just COLD and WINDY.

I still have a box-pleated kilt to finish along with two jacket conversions and I have some canvas for an x-kilt. I could use a snow day!!!

Keep us informed and keep the pics coming.

Sounds like a great idea. We got our first flurries of the year from the same storm. I'm sure all our Canadian/Northern US friends are having a good laugh at us, but I was excited by it!

Is the material from a company named Woodland or are you calling the pattern Woodland? Woodland and ACU are two different patterns. Woodland is the old dark green, light green, brown, and black blob pattern. What you have in the picture is the Army's new Army Combat Uniform (ACU) pattern digital. I think that is awesome. Since the Army has changed to the ACU, lots of people think its fashinable to wear the old woodland. I've even bought my daughter a pair of ACU pants from clothing sales just so she'll wear the "real" camo, but she still insists on wearing the old woodland. My son and I have matching ACU pattern kilts from Sport Kilts. Good luck. Can't wait to see the pics when you're done.

Hey Drillagent, Thanks for the correction. I'm an old fart and call everything that has green in it "woodland". ACU it is.
I'm right with you on the camo patterns. I sincerely hope that the fashionistas don't start making girl's skirts in ACU and MARPAT!!!

Here's what it looks like now (pre-pressing). About 4 hours of labor so far. The pattern ran the short width rather than the long width, so I had to cut three pieces and join them to make 5 yards, and of course that required hemming as well.

20 knife pleats and 18" aprons. Tomorrow I'll add the waist band and belt loops.
