some inexpensive fabrics

Greetings all, 11 December, 1113amMST

I am always looking on eBay for fabrics and here are a couple current ones:

Item # 250327898039. Red and dark green undercheck with yellow and black overchecks. 5 yds, $8.88/yd USD Fiber content isn't listed

Item #120151143956. Red undercheck with various colors of overchecks. Poly/viscose, 92 yds available @ $7.40/yd USD

Both are in Great Britain, and will probably cost as much or more than the price of the fabric to ship.

I have spent a good deal of time through various sources trying to ID these tartans, and can't turn up any matches.

They both resemble a couple of the MacDonald setts, but then there are a lot of look-alikes out there.

I once designed and registered a tartan for our County Sheriff Department. The gentleman at Scottish Tartans Authority was a little dubious over my design, since it resembles something else, but they registered it nonetheless.

I didn't want to get into an argument with him about resemblances, for if one wants to start splitting hairs, there are a lot of resemblances out there.

Shaw Modern, Davidson Modern, Farquharson Modern, etc etc.

To an untrained eye, they all look pretty much the same.

Fide et Fortitudine, aye!

Just bought a kilt-length of this.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=260307705228

Was shipped yesterday. Now as soon as I can get the wherewithall saved up, Barb gets to make it into a kilt. The material here seems excellent, as do the prices.

The MacLaine of Lochbuie

I have bought several pieces from Geb Reilly in Selkirk myself. He has always been good to do business with.

I am a little confused about how he lists stuff though. All the fabric listings are noted that the material came from a mill that is now closed, but he is always coming up with new pieces all the time.

Not that it matters............

I have bought Armstrong-Old Colors, MacGregor-Modern, Logan-Modern, and lastly for myself........Shaw of Tordarroch Red-Old Colors.

I am sure you will be pleased.
