Sporran flap concept

Maybe this will inspire some of the artisans here.

This morning this Jimmy Choo Bag was featured in the style section of the NY Times. It reminded me of celtic knots. I thought if the shape were reworked, it might make an interesting sporran flap.
The fringe shown here also made me think of how fun it would be to have instead of a horse hair or goat hair front, a long leather fringe front - the same shape, more or less, but for day wear casual.

By the way, the Jimmy Choo bag retails for $5,195.

Regards,
Rex.

So are you planning to buy the bag and chop off the flap for a new sporran?

Pretty intricate braiding on there. It does start me thinking about a braided sporran flap. It'd take a LOT of work, but it would definitely look really cool.

Hmmm...wonder if I can use larger thongs and do a conquistador braid like this and embellish it a bit...

Macrame sporrans! Takes me right back to the 60s. . . now, what tartan goes with tie-dye??

Kidding aside, you might be on to something. I'll tack it onto the end of my projects list (which currently stretches around the block and out of sight. . . or is that "outtasite, man!")

Are you kidding? If I have that much cash in my pocketbook to burn, I'm not going to blow it on a handbag! I'm calling DWFII!

Indeed. What's old is new again.

$5,195? At that price you shouldn't have to put money in. You should be able to reach in and find money whenever you want!

I agree that an artist could interpret that flap detail for an interesting sporran. It might even be affordable.
