    Uh-oh

    Um.....I just tried to make a quick fit on my X-Kilt. Did my pleats, attempting to figure out the under apron pleat and decided to wrap it around me to see how the box pleats fell.....THEY COMPLETEY GO AROUND ME!!!! My waist is 37 my rump is 40, the guide says 10 3" pleats and a 16" under, 10" over and 12" under/over apron. That wraps around me twice......am I missing something? PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Umm...ok.

    I think that you're over apron is too big. You should have

    | under-apron| |||||||||| over-apron |

    Your under apron should be whatever you want, then 30" of pleats, and then 10" of over apron, to make 40 inches...

    I dunno' if I am helping, or just babbling. I can see it in my head, but I don't know how to put it on paper...err...LCD screen.

    Does this help?

    I guess i don't know how to make the under apron pleat. There in lies one of my problems.

    I can't help you with that then. I've never made a "true" x-kilt, so I don't understand the under-apron pleat bit. Maybe wait around for Alan H., the creator of the x-kilt, or do a search. A lot of questions have been asked about this thing.

    Hope all works out for ya'.

    Thank you for your help. Did you make a under apron pleat? Could I skip it?

    No do not kip the under apron pleat. That is there for modesty. I've yet to make one but somebody will be along soon who has. Good luck.

    I did not make an under-apron pleat, but this was also for a knock-around, yard work/dorm kilt. When my true x-kilt is manufactured, I'm sure I'll make the under-apron pleat.

    This thread has a picture of the knock-around kilt:

    Yours looks great. Am I seeing a full pleat on the fron of your hips? Or do all your pleats end on your rear?

    Might have answer for you

    First, I am in Nashville also, and have repaired kilts (from Scotland and USA)
    I also make kilts in the traditional style. I think you asking how to make the back pleat on underskirt?

    Can I assume that you've downloaded the booklet from here? It is known that there is a slight error in the total pleat length in that it something like 5.25" instead of the posted 5.5" (if I recall correctly. I also think the is a layout diagram in the appendix. Looking at this it show 10 3" pleats. This is a sample layout and might be for someone of the designers size.
