What am I getting my self into!

Hello all. I am a total noob, but after stumbling on to the site here I have been thinking about making myself a kilt. I have wanted to buy one for quite some time but could never get past the cost.

So last night I am reading X-kilt_final2 for the 3th time and my wife comes in and says "What you doing?"
"Reading about how to make a Kilt." I reply.

Convinced nothing was going on she left the room. A bit later she comes back. "Still reading that?"

    "Not still. Again."
    "What?"
"I'm reading it again so I'm sure I understand it."

She gives me the "are you kidding me/don't waste your time" look and I reply "It doesn't seem that hard"
"Skye..." (Read: Don't do this. You're going to make a mess and drive me nuts.")
"Someone has put together a very good looking set of destructions here. (I always say destructions instead of directions).
"You can't." (Read: You're not going to be able to do this.)

So a day later, and 5 times through X-kilt_final2, I'm sitting here with 4 yards of 65\35 poly\cotton in OD green.

I'll keep you guys up to date on how it goes. Hope you all don't mind if I lean heavily on you for support as far as the sewing goes. We have a Brother sewing machine that I have used once. Even then all I did was put a big nasty zigzag in a old rag to make sure it was set up right. I did it once, I'm sure I can do it again

Well, all the best with your endeavor- sounds like you may have more challenges than just making the kilt, have fun with it all.

My own story is not very different, and now I've quite the collection of self-made kilts. Congratulations on starting this journey. Don't think that it will end soon!

Thanks a bunch for all the encouragement!

Wow. I live in a shoebox! At 12' long this fabric is longer than most of the rooms in my apartment.

This is going to be exciting!

Welcome aboard from Marion, North Carolina!

As you make up that kilt, you could also knit your own kilt hose to go with it (in your free time, of course.)
