what I made today

Tonight was the Military Ball for the JROTC cadets at my school. The commander and I discussed a special cake for the occasion, and here's what my Mrs. and I came up with:

The star tier is chocolate pound cake with chocolate buttercream, wrapped in vanilla fondant (the yellow and black parts). The bottom tier is vanilla pound cake, again wrapped in fondant. The tanks, planes and toy soldiers are all plastic toys. My school's mascot is the Patriot, thus the cadets form the "Patriot Battalion".
The boys were in their uniforms and the girls were all dolled up in their evening gowns. It's sort of a prom for the JROTC kids, and their parents were invited, as well. My Mrs. and I delivered the cake and then left the Battalion to their festivities.

The large white blob in the left side of the picture is where I whited-out some bags and things that were ugly.
