White Canvass Kilt

When I responded to Matt's thread about "Raising expectations," I mentioned that I had a kilt to finish. Well I finished it (thanks Matt!). I started this over 2 years ago. Right before I moved. I found it (and the rest of my sewing supplies) a few weeks ago (we are combining 2 households which means lots of boxes lots of stuff to get rid of and lots of stuff to find). The hope was to create a knock about kilt that was machine washable and had a kind of "Jeans" look. The front panels and the waist have a contrasting red stitch around it. Parachute closures hold it together. Before moving I used a community laundry room that I always suspected didn't really wash cloths in hot water. After finishing it I washed it in hot water, and it shrank a bit (not much but enough that I need to loose about an off my waist before its really comfortable. It also requires a good bit of ironing. But being white, it should be good for work because I can bleach out stains etc. It has belt loops, although not pictured with a belt so I can show off the workmanship. Overall not a total success, but fun....

And now the required pictures.

Cheers
Chris

I like the double strap with plastic buckles. It does illustrate the dangly nature of said straps that I mentioned elsewhere in reference to one of my own. I like the overall look and had been looking forward to seeing pictures after you mentioned it in that other thread.
Good on Ye!

It does raise a couple of questions...

Do you tie dye before making the kilt, or after?
If before, then what do you pleat to... the sploch or something?

Chris nice kilt. That is going to be one wrinkly s.o.b. with the choice of cloth.

Say hello to Merced for me, I grew up there and my mom and sisters are in Clovis and Fresno. Kilt On!
