FYI-> my mac downloads AUTOMATICALLY for the posted link.
No need to punch any keys or menu to save.

Also, thanks for all your work Alan! It looks like you have allowed many to make their own kilts, who otherwise would never have bothered!

    Lightbulb Fringe on an X-Kilt???

I ws wondering if anyone has put fringe on their x-kilt. I like fringe on trad kilts, but I haven't seen it on a modern one. Would it look funny or should I give it a try?

My Man, it's YOUR kilt, so do it YOUR way! If you want a fringe, then fringe it!

I havent built an X-Kilt with a fringe, but my first canvas kilt had one.

Could one of the moderators please sticky this thread? Or at least the post with the instruction download address in it?

I picked up the cotton twill fabric for my first x-kilt this evening. I will begin all the measuring and marking and probably do the brunt of the work next weekend.

Does anyone know of directions to make a kilt like the ones Matt from the Tartan Museum makes? If you haven't been to his link it is:

    http://kilts.albanach.org/

I have been making the "traditional" 8 yard knife pleated variety, but would like to try my hand at an even more traditional 4 yard kilt! I really liked the look of Matt's and was wondering if anyone knows if there are some written instructions. Laying out the kilt isn't really a problem. I've got enough experience in kilt making that I sometimes dream in tartan! I'm mainly a little confused on the sewing of the pleats. Pleats that go in different directions are a bit much for an old knife pleater like me to handle.Any help anyone can afford is much appreciated.
