| | | Jock can't log in.
I'm putting this here, as Jock Scott asked my help;
It seems he can't log in, and it tells him he's banned!
I think we'd all miss Jock terribly, so I thought a Moderator might see his plight here.
he does feel a bit cut off!
Note, I also contacted a moderator, but in case the Mod. couldn't reach his computer directly, thought I'd also put the message here so things could be dealt with in a speedy fashion.
Thank for a great forum!
Richard.

| I get that roughly 50% of the time I try to log while using my wireless card. I guess they've banned some random spammer who happened to use that mobile IP address once, so the rest of us have to pay for his mistake and live with random roaming IP bans. Maybe Jock got caught up in a similar issue.

Someone else had mentioned something similar a while back... Hopefully our Jock will find his way back on in short order.

Hope it gets fixed soon for Jock. That would be a very disturbing, sinking feeling...

If you are in contact with Jock please ask him to send me a message by any means he can. I need his IP address.
Yesterday we had a large group of spammers hit the forum. I had to ban over 50 IP addresses. I have already found one IP that I typed with a typo and banned another member.
If anyone knows of any other member experiencing problems logging in it is probably due to this batch of IP addresses.
The other problem that happens some times is a spammer will use a proxy to log on to one of the dynamic IP addresses. This could be an IP used by an internet cafe or a persons house.
To fix this I need Jocks IP address. If he can get to the home page of the forum and can click on the contact us button at the bottom of the page I can get his IP address from that.

| | | Would everyone please note.
At any time you experience a problem logging into the site......
Scroll down to the bottom of any page of the forum.
In the bottom right corner you will see some buttons.
The first button says "Contact Us".
Clicking that will send an error message directly to me via email.
The email will include your current IP address.
I will then check that with our banned IP address list.
This is the best method of contacting me if you are having any problems. It is done via email so you do not have to be logged in to use it.

Steve,
I sent Jock your message you sent me, but he may already have seen it here.
Thanks for taking care of it so quickly.
It seems what with spammers and all, even having a great site like this brings its own headaches!!
Best wishes,
Richard.

I think we can all see the difficulties Steve and our Mods go through in keeping us free of spam. Thank you all again for your ceaseless vigilance.
