That is correct @RockyR, you also get a message when you are quoted.

I got the impression that you would type the @feature into the tag user box, not use it in the body of the text. Am I wrong?

    Thanks guys for these features.

    You may do either.

In the tag box at the top of the page you do not use the @ feature. You simply need to type in the username.
If you want to mention a member you do so in the body of text with the username preceeded by the @ sign.

Is there any way to turn this new facility off? My emails this morning are "jammed" with Xmarks notifications about this and that, that are of no real use to me. PM's most certainly I would like to keep, but the rest I could do without. Thanks.

I see how these two features can be useful, but I think that it should be used carefully. After browsing through some threads I thought about poor Jock Scot, he must have had 20 or 30 e-mail notifications in an hour or two.

I don't know how the features really work, but maybe it's possible to create maximum one notification per thread. That way it might be acceptable for all members (even those who are mentioned a lot). And if you wrote in a thread you do get the green point in the "New posts" section, for those I don't need an e-mail.
Just an idea, I don't know if it works that way.

I got an email today informing me that I had been " Quoted " . So , I went to my User CP ( as instructed ) just to see if it showed up under the " new tab " there ( out of curiosity ) . I could not find a " new tab " while in the User CP area that references how many times one is tagged .

Just thought I would pass this along in case there is a technical glitch .

On a separate note , I am with Jock Scot , I don't need to get emails every time someone quotes me or tags me , I appreciate the tag , just don't need to get emailed about it .

I understand that it's beneficial to some ( especially vendors ) . As Jock inquired , can this email business be turned off on an individual basis ?

Cheers and thanks , Mike .

    See if this works MacGumerait,

In the box on the to right where you see your avatar you should also see your username underlined. Click on your username and you should be taken to your public profile. This is not where you change your password or email address. This should be what other members see if they click on your username.

Right at the top in the middle you should see the file folder like tabs we are talking about.

To change your email notifications you will need to click on "UserCP" on the top dark blue navigation bar right under the X Marks logo.
Here you can turn off or on the email notifications.
In the left column go down to the "My Account" box and find "General Settings".

I'll mention you so you know that I responded with an answer to your question. @MacGumerait
