How to remove basting stitches on a new kilt

Here are four kilts I bought, layed out...ready to have their pleat-threads removed.

When you get a new kilt, the pleats are sewn together. You need to remove this thread before you can wear it properly. BE CAREFUL. If you try to pull it out all at once, you can rip a hole in your new kilt. Don't want that.

Every few pleats, be sure to cut the thread. Pulling it through uncut may put a damage your kilt.

The last few stitches can be difficult to get out of the pleats. Be patient and take your time. The kilt isn't going anywhere.

One more thread to pick out before I can wear it.
