Right on I am a big fan of CROSSFIT, and functional training, olympic style lifts are my favorite. Right now my backyard looks like a junkyard, PM me to trade workouts, since I am retired I am trying harder to stay in RANGER SHAPE. GOOD LUCK!!

I switched to body weight exercises some ten years ago. Between being on the road where weights were not always available (and sometimes working with short teams didn't allow for enough down time.) I have also used a partner for body weight. I would have some one sit on my shoulders while I did squats, push ups, etc. (my wife and sister-in-law made a perfect weight set.) I also added resistance by making the exercise a slow count (4 seconds in each direction for the movement.) A great exercise for caber chuckers is to run with a with a bag of cement held close the the stomach (Stan Russell, a San Jose police officer who was throwing the caber back in the '70's taught me that exercise.)

That's a really good idea. I have a few heavy sacks of chicken feed. And cat litter. I will try that out!

re

Me and my brother are in the training group that trains over by the field by the skatepark off eagle road so we'll probably see you. I am not sure when they are training again I was there last weekend and noone there but I have some of my own homemade implements I will work some with. I don't have any competitions to do till next year though I'm training a lot of squat, bench and deadlift and do some plyometric depth jumps as well. Just going to put on some solid muscle and get my base level of strength up. Early spring will work much more on speed and explosiveness and get more familiar with the events again.

My own regimen is much likes yours, but I have made a few changes due to my advanced years:

1. Start by getting out of bed. Rotate neck and stretch back to the grating sounds of vertabrae.
2. Attempt to stand and try out the knees. If the gout hasn't taken up residence overnight, go to bathroom. (Bathroom is the first stop for all men over 50)
3. Coffee curls with both arms; repeat at least 20 repititions or until the coffee pot is empty.
4. Rest.
5. Perform the the three Esses: S***, Shower, and Shave.
6. Find clothes and practice balance by dressing without falling over.
7. Back exercises: crawl on floor looking for shoes; don socks and shoes; stretch back by standing up.
8. Meds curls; take all pills (14 in all) and take insulin shot
9. Ankle exercises: drive to work uses both feet
10. Be sure to rest a lot, preferably with a midday nap.
11. Evening forearm curls with double jiggers of scotch and a splash of water.

I hope your routine makes you ready for whatever challenges you face.

Slainte.

I'm with Jim. I'll add the country dancing from Arlen's regimen, and take the insulin out of Jim's but other that that, I'm there.
Thank you, Jim for the laugh and knowing that I'm not the onlu only one that has crossed over the hill.
