    Heavy athletic competitors in Stl Mo

    What's going Ladies and Gents? I'm brand new to this forum. I have a few questions. Are there any heavy athletic competitors in the Saint Louis, Missouri area? I'm looking to get started in the games but I need some help. any advice is appreciated.

    Welcome from St. Louis! I don't compete (too small, old, and out of shape), but there are three main events here. The St. Louis Scottish Games, usually held in October in Forest Park; St. Charles Tartan Days, usually held in April at Frontier Park; and Irish Days which is held on Memorial Day weekend, also at Frontier Park, St. Charles. Do a search on those and you should be able to find some information and contacts for competing.

    Hi, Seth. The only guy I know from Missouri who throws is Thom Van Vleck, he's in Green Top. However, if you had to know just ONE guy, you could do a lot worse than Thom. Thom has been training for years, decades... and is a topnotch competitor in the 40's Masters, now. Thom also helps promote at least a couple of Games every year. Thom is a staunch Christian and is involved in a strongman for Christ show, which was a new concept for me, but hey....If he believes int it, more power to him.
