Homemade throwing implements

Too much snow and too much time not throwing will make a fellow undertake interesting hobbies.

I wanted to mash together some cheap but reasonably effective throwing implements so here's what I came up with:

The hammer is a piece of 3/4 inch plastic conduit with a collar at the bottom.

The WFD and WOB's are 1/2 threaded pipe--one is 10 inces and the other is 12 inches with a floor flange attached at the base and my high-tech handle it a half inch "T" with rope threaded through it.

The work well albeit a bit wonkier than a traditonal weight, but for me its ok for training to have to 'muscle' them a bit more.

I already had the plate weights so the entire set-up cost me under $25.00

cool

My homemade implements are very similar. I had to experiment with the hammer a lot. When I used 10lb. plates over the pvc it was breaking the PVC all the time. When I switched to 5lb. plates it wasn't breaking as much. Less circumfrance on it made it slap onto the ground a little softer I guess. It still broke sometimes but less often that way. PVC is cheap as hell though I buy 20 foot pieces of it so I have a lot of extra for when it breaks.

Dang Ryan--5lb plates--Makes SO much more sense! I've only thrown this hammer a few times now in the snow. Previously I used that hammer handle with a "wad" of towing chain coiled and looped in a donut.

The other thing I learned about these implements is to shorten the pipe on the WOB/WFD--10 inches is plenty--if you can get 8 threaded at both ends it's better. The shorter length makes more of a 'compact' weight and means less slopping about on spins for WFD.
