Yeah, that can be a workout. I've done a couple of open-water swims and they're flippin' hard.

Because I am in a "Biggest Loser" pool at my office, I've been taking regular measurements of my neck and waist. Today, after those deadlifts and probably cumulative to the past 3 workouts (deadlifts) my neck is a full half-inch thicker than it was 2 months ago. For doing bodyfat calculations this is actually a "Good thing", as we are using the old US Navy bodyfat calculator to see who loses the most bodyfat, not BMI or total pounds lost (it uses a ratio of your neck-to-waist measurement and the smaller your waist is, while having a thick neck, the better).

At my strongman competitive apex I had a 21.5" neck. Don't know if I'm going to get back to that, I kinda enjoy not waking up numb and sore every morning.

Didn't update the log. Destroyed my lower back and will probably take tomorrow off. We are moving homes right now so I'll be doing work, boxes and such from upstairs to downstairs.

    Saturday (June 2)
Clean Thrusters for warmup - 3x60kg

    Clean and Jerk: 1x80kg, 90kg, 95kg, 100kg, 105kg, 102.5kg, 107.5kg (236.5lbs)
    Front Squat: 3x60kg, 100kg, 2x105kg, 2x110kg
    Hyperextensions/Glute Hams: 10 reps

I think the hypers screwed me up, they aren't a lift I do that often and when I have really bad low back pain, 90% of the time it's my hamstrings fault. Sure enough, for the first 3 days of this week I couldn't touch my toes even in a hot shower, on a hefty dose of painkillers. Next time I do them, I will stretch copiously afterwards.

Status update - I opened up this thread a few weeks back - http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...w-least-74454/ regarding some pain I was feeling in my manparts. I've been taking a small break from training until it's resolved. I plan on training again tomorrow.

The post above wasn't pain in my low back, it was such severe pain in the junk that it radiated to my back. Bad juju, I'm sure.

Just letting you guys know I've not forgotten about this log.

I haven't had pain that way, but I've had numbness and when that happens it's time to back off and stretch for a while. I also find that some 10 minute, easy sessions on the rowing machine help me out.

Had a fantastic workout today until I passed out. Who am I kidding, it was a great workout regardless.

Clean Thrusters @ 40kg for warmup.

    Clean and Jerk: 60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, 95kg, 100kg, 105kg, 102.5kg, 107.5kg

Clean: 110kg (made the clean, passed out before the jerk - training partner (he's a doctor, so it's cool) said my eyes rolled back in my head half-way out of the recovery - so instinct took over and I finished the lift, but as soon as I dropped the bar, the blood rushed back to my head and sent me to the floor.)

    Front Squats: 2x70kg, 90kg, 100kg, 105kg, 110kg

    Back Squats: 1x6x120kg

Ab work (situps holding a 10kg plate over my head, and leg raises)

There are videos on youtube of guys passing out right before the jerk. Might have something to do with the barbell compressing the blood vessels in front of the neck and/or forgetting to breathe. Or it could be something called "Orthostatic Hypotension" which is a drop in blood pressure.

I'd have it checked out because there could be an underlying medical condition or some sort of reaction/symptom from medications you might be taking. Probably nothing but it's worth ruling such things out.

I've had it happen before, usually after a grinding deadlift. I'll feel some elation at the lift, put the bar down, take about 2 whole steps.... then *BAM!* floor.

Never had it happen *during* a lift, even back in the old Cyberpump/Garage Gym days when I was fool enough to do 20 rep squats.

Ugh...passing out during a workout. I've done it once, but it was pushups on a wrestling mat. No big deal.

Hey, you gotta THROW this Fall, you know!!
