another tartan identification

This weekend found this material in an old material shop. Don't have any info on it, from what I've searched I think it is a fashion tartan but if not please let me know. It is definately wool and suitable thickness to make a kilt out of. I got this very cheap. There is 6" between the yellow lines (sett) I hope to with my mother's help make a kilt of of this. Will be my first homemade one.

Smeaton was as close as I could come but the overchecks are different orders. Looks like a fashion tartan, unless one of the smarter Xmark tartan identifiers can come up with it. The challenge is on.

so far in my search german heritage was kind of close but not exactly. Pattern not even close but the colors are about the same. Was also close to some of the variants of McDonald

Yeah I think it will make a pretty nice looking kilt whatever it is.

I can't find it in any of my books, but it's a fine looking tartan. Wish I had, would make great kilt! Malcolm

If it's not on the tartan registry, you could register it as your own - and then name it whatever you wanted!

Good looking Tartan. Those red tartans allways remind me of those Macinaw Cruiser jackets made by Woolrich for some reason.

I can't wait this weekend. I'm going to make my kilt out of this. I have read up on all the articles provided here and am going to use my existing kilt as a carbon copy to build this one. My curent kilt is about a perfect fit. I've decided it will look best knife pleated to the stripe military style but leave a little room between each yellow stripe about 1". Basically the grey squares will not show after pleated.
