    Any Lindsay's out there?

Just wondering with all the Mc Donalds, Mc Lloeds et al on the forum, any other Lindsays or septs of Lindsay on the forum?

The B in Brooster B stand for Byers a Lindsay Sept.

I am not a Lindsay, but have quite a few Lindsay cousins. None has more than a passing interest in their Scottish ancestry or heritage, as far as I know. It's a shame, especially since one, now in his early 20's, went to college on a (American) football scholarship, and played center. He is huge, all muscle, and would probably make a great highland athlete.

I am a member of a student fraternity in Heidelberg, in which we had a Lindsay in the 1860`s!

One day I will make myself a Lindsay kilt!

Not a Lindsay, that I know of, but I have Crawford ancestors several generations back on both sides. Crawford is frequently listed as a sept of Lindsay because a Lindsay married a Crawford heiress centuries back and so obtained the barony of Crawford in Lanarkshire, but there was already a separate branch of the Crawford family, noble in its own right, that continued its existence independent of the Lindsays. I don't know that the two families had much to do with each other after the marriage. Ayrshire soon became the center of the Crawford family, while the Lindsays obtained lands in Angus. However, the ancient link between the two families is made evident in the colors of their tartans, presumably designed by the Sobieski Stuart brothers some time in the first half of the 19th century. While I'm skeptical of the idea of considering the Crawfords a sept of the Lindsays, I don't mind having an excuse to wear the Lindsay tartan, should I need one.

I have a ton of Lindsays from Ayr, East Lothian, Angusshire, Berwickshire and Lanarkshire. I also have four other surnames in my family tree that are on the list of being possible septs of Clan Lindsay.
