    Australian National Tartan launch

Last Saturday the Bundanoon Highland Gathering took place. I wasn't there, sadly, but I have been given reports from those who were there

The designer of the Australian National Tartan, Betty Johnstone, called me today and told me that the launch went well.
The launch was assisted by the Rt. Hon. Helen Liddell, British High Commissioner to Australia, herself a Scot.
Betty said there was tremendous interest in the tartan, I think it's lovely colours speak for themselves, they reflect Australia, it's flag and the nation. I know many will want to wear this tartan because it is uniquely Australian.

It's certainly in my short list of kilts.

A beautiful tartan. I really liked the press release with the description and reasons for the color selection and set. Thanks for sharing.

Aye, that is a brill Tartan! Congrats to the "Land of Aus". Now to get ahold of a "cousin" and see if she will send me about 9 yards in this years' Christmas bundle from "Down Under". Ahhh the joy of the "gift" heading on the customs declaration!!

I was sent some photos from the tartans' author. This is the launch of the tartan at one of Australia's biggest Highland gatherings.

On the left is the Rt.Hon Helen Liddell, British High commissioner to Aust. One the left is Betty Johnstone.
