    Close Tartan

Hi my name is David Close born in Edinburgh. Now living in Alexandria VA. I am looking to find other people named Close, with a view to recreate the Close tartan lost many years ago. I need help with the design or start a Close modern tartan.

from Chicago. There are several on-line tartan designers that you can use once you settle on a design. This one from the Scottish Tartans Authority lets you email a design to family and friends. Good luck with your quest.

    Hi David,
I'm not even "close" to being a member of your family, but I wish you luck. I will offer that sometimes clan tartans closely resembled the district the clan lived in - the earliest "clan tartans" in fact were just the tartans made by local weavers.

Welcome to X Marks. I do have a question -- do you have any evidence that there was once a "Close" tartan to be recreated?
