    Flight. Which clan?

Anyone know which clan or clans the name Flight is or has been associated with? Surname Profiler shows it in Perthshire and the Dundee area.

The name Flight (and the various spellings) is found on the Shetland and Orkney islands, and is not a sept or clan name per se. It is viking in origin.

You may well be 'related' to Jock Flett, of FLett from Flotta
He was from Orkney and a piper in the Seaforth Highlanders. A friend wrote the song for him.
Orkney has a tartan-you could also try to find out what, if any, tartan the Fletts wore.
You can find a living Flett over at dunsire.com, or maybe here, he uploaded all these pictures:

The Tartan Ferret has Flett as a sept of Sinclair. Does that make any sense? Nothing for Flight, though.

That would seem to make sense since the Sinclairs were historically a northern sea-going clan.

For Example, although the Gunns are their own clan, they have viking origins and are frequently associated with the Sinclairs.
