    Help with McKinnies history/tartan?

    Hello all,
    I am trying to find some information and a possible tartan of my wifes family, with out much luck. The surname is McKinnies. I don't know if that stemmed from McKinnes, McKinnon, or what else. I only knew that her father was scots-irish, and her mum of full English blood. Just googleing the surname isn't much help either. I thought I would see if any of you wise ones might be able to help me. Thank you kindly.

    It's one of the many spelling variations of the name MacInnes.

    Thanks very much, Matthew. Somehow I knew someone here would be able to point me in the right direction. Just need to think about doing Geneology.com for my family and hers!

    Ancestry.com has more resources. Use that with familysearch.org . Family search is free and will help you pinpoint better dates, like BMD's.

    These are not the be all end all on genealogy research. Once you get some good information put together, you'll want to order BMD's. And/Or you can visit genealogical libraries.

    BMD = Birth, Marriage, Death.
