Um, yes and it is a gorgeous tartan at that. Certainly on my wish list.

So where is this contest leading? To a new replacement?

I think the article indicates it will be the official Parliamentary Tartan, rather than a new Holyrood Tartan. I guess the existing "Scottish Parliament" tartan is unofficial.

The new one will be in commemoration of the Scottish Parliament.

I thought that the Holyrood we know and love was a "fashion tartan," but it seems there are 2. They were designed by Lochcaron to commemorate HRM's silver (1977, STA 98) and golden (2002, STA 6405) jubilees. The familiar one is STA #98.

It's very pretty, I would love a kilt in that tartan.

Aye, me too! An ancestor of mine was a minister (in the religious sense) at Holyrood.
