Maple Leaf Help Please

Ok Rabble, I am at it again. I have just finished reading Barb's book and have now decided to attempt (

) to make my own kilt. This coincided nicely with F&K having a sale on the 16oz Maple Leaf tartan of which I partook of. So now for the question.... Would those of you who own the tartan be so kind as to show me how you pleated it or how it looks on you?

Sho' nuff!! My kilt was made of PV by Pete at CCK. It is close to 9 yards.

The pics are a bit dark but I hope this helps.

I belief all where pleated to sett except for perhaps McClef as his was 8 yards(of the CCK PV run). Problem is that it's an asymetrical tartan. It is also the regimental tartan of the Royal Canadian Regiment I have yet to see one of their kilts but I'm hoping that it is to stripe. Archangel has an RCR kilt perhaps pm him for pics, although I don't think hes' posted in the past 8 months.

A second ML I got from Rocky (although not a USAKilt creation) didn't apear pleated to anything in particular. I actually considered having Robert redo it in a box pleat as it would be unique on this forum at the very least. Mike please do me a favour and pin it up in box pleat, probably to the three gold stripes

Yes Grant is right - mine is pleated to the stripe.

As Grant pointed out, this is an assymetircal tartan, which means that when you order your cloth, you either need to get a full length for your kilt (9 yards), and have a bunch of extra cloth, or order 4.5 yards double, but ask them to send it as a pre-ripped single width 9 yard length. Most tartan mills are more than happy to do the latter with assumetrical tartans for kilt making purposes.

Looking at the posted pics I'd say box pleat to the gold stripe centered in the red. The explosion of green when sashaying down the Blvd would look awesome. You do sashay don't you Mike?
