    Nominate: Most gorgeous tartan

As I sit here contemplating how on earth I'm going to be able to sneak a new PV IoS kilt around my kilt mocking wife. I was thinking of telling her I need this kilt ecause the colours are so gorgeous. Long story a little less long I started to wonder what tartan is the most gorgeous.

So here we go in a couple of days I'll post a poll to that very question. Until then I'm looking for suggestions of what tartans to vote on. Own clan biases aside what tartans should be on this list? I am considering adding the Maple Leaf (be warned) just because of the wonderful hues present and not because it is MY national tartan.

    So please submit your nominations.

    Manx Hunting
    IOS
German Heritage (I know it's biased, but I really like it)

All very different and unlike most other tartans out there.

Never seen the Manx Hunting before which forced me to look it up. Man, that is nice. Yes Rocky the German Heritage is indeed nice you should be very proud. I just checked the poll option and we will be confined to just 10 tartan choices so I guess we'll have to see what choices come up most often. top ten will then be voted on. Now if only we could show swatches next to names, maybe I'll do that in post #1.
Mine are (in no particular order):

    Maple Leaf
    Isle of Sky
    Holyrood

Note to all and mentioning no names (I'm looking at you Mr James MacMillian). We know some of you will have some bias just don't mention it! And I'm sure the Leatherneck will show up on the list, what with all the unbiased former Jarheads on the forum.

Well, I've heard the following tartans called gorgeous with my own two ears:
    Maple Leaf
    Isle of Skye
    X Marks the Scot
    Sackett

The American Heritage is impressive, and distinctive, but I wouldn't go with gorgeous. Beautiful in its spareness and solemnity, more like.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

Maple Leaf....I've always loved the fall colors in that tartan, and I'm not Canadian.

I'm also partial to Lindsay and Holyrood. At least I own a Holyrood kilt!
