    Office of Silly Tartan Names

    Rabble,
Forgive me if this has been done before, but even if it has, we have plenty of new blood, ......(I got this idea from another thread but didn't want to hijack it so I thought it might work better here.) What are some of the silly answers that you've come up with when someone asks; "What tartan is that?"
I've thought of MacDaft of Bedlam, Sherman of Atlanta, and Lemur of Madagascar, but I'm sure there are a lot of funny, (and funnier,) ones out there. The point of this is not to be rude to those who are genuinely interested but perhaps just having a little fun with naive. All responses are welcomed.
If men were meant to wear skirts they'd be called kilts!

I'm going to have to say that I have always given the correct answer when someone asks me what tartan I'm wearing. If someone has taken the time to ask me, I'll give them the real answer. I think telling someone that it's a different tartan is kind of a weird idea in my opinion.

    Just my two cents though.

When someone is wearing a Camoflauge kilt we generally answer that it is the Clan Destine Hunting, or just that it's a Hunting Tartan.

My favorite response was from a Highland dancer of Chinese descent... she wore the MacAng tartan, Ang being her surname.

If I am wearing a Tartan it means that the Tartan means something to me. Even if it is a fashion Tartan. I like it. That is why I wear it. And I am proud of wearing it.
If someone asks me what Tartan it is, I always respond with the correct name. And usually add some information on why I am proud to be wearing it.
My non-Tartan Kilts are different. Clan Destine is a good answer just because the person asking usually has never seen a non-Tartan Kilt and doesn't usually understand that there is such a thing.
Don't suffer a fool, but honestly educate someone who is simply ignorant.

As a piper, I wear a few kilts, the MacGregor being one of my favorites. One time when I was wearing that tartan, some know-it-all came up to me and called me Mr. MacGregor. I politely said, "Actually, it's McIntyre", meaning my name, but he misunderstood and said didn't I know better what tartan I was wearing.
