    Tartan designs???

Hello all, first time posting here after wearing my very first kilt that my sister made for me, and I must say I am hooked!! I have a question about creating a tartan for a local sports team here in Texas. How would I go about designing it? Where would be good references for creating a tartan? Is it allowed to create your own tartan? These are all "newbie" questions I'm sure and I ask your forgiveness and indulgence to one newly born into the world of kilts! Thanks in advance for any and all help or directions!!

Matt Newsome, a frequent poster here and curator of the Scottish Tartan Museum in Franklin, NC has a tartan design service. http://www.albanach.org/design.htm Otherwise, do a search through the forums, it has been discussed several times before.
