    Thumbs down U.S. Army Tartan

Having no family claim to a tartan, I found the above-mentioned plaid. As an honorably-discharged veteran, am I entitled to wear it? Is it a registered tartan? Any reviews on Sportkilts' version?
    Thanks!

It hasn't been officially adopted by the US Army, so you are most certainly entitled - especially as a veteran! It's available in any fabric and price range you can think of, from poly-cotton up to and including 16 oz. wool tartan from a Scottish mill....

    Thank you, sir!
FYI, I do F&I ranger/LI. Been inactive awhile, though.
    Have a great week!

Thanks! The wife isn't crazed about it, but I've wanted a tartan for awhile to contrast the UKs.

There are a number of threads here which will tell you that you can wear most any tartan you like. But I certainly feel that being a veteran of the US Army is more than pleanty of justification for wearing the tartan.

I have a SportKilt "works" in US Navy tartan, because I'm a former sailor, myself. I rather like it, though it has to be admitted that it is in no way traditional, and I find myself thinking that, somewhere not too far down the road, I'll also get a wool one in the tartan, pleated to something other than "random."

Go for the USA Kilts Army tartan in PV. You won't regret that purchase.

Thanks! After perusing the USAK site more carefully, and reading some (of the MANY) posts praising them, I think that I am leaning heavily towards them. Moreover, I know they're friendly with the UK crew. Any recommendations on sporrans? I like one fron Rkilts, but OUCH!
    Thanks, again!

A lot of people go with the Buzz Kidder Rob Roy and Country sporrans. I think those are neat. But, I prefer the very basic plain type as sold here.

How much are you looking to spend, and what type of sporran are looking for? There are alot of options out there depending on what your budget is. If it were up to me I would save my up cash and get a freelander, but that is because I just love mine.
