    Utah Tartan Kilt

Does anybody out there have the Utah Tartan in a kilt? If so, can you post a pic please? And thank you!

From The Scottish Register of Tartans:

Utah' state tartan was commissioned by Garry Bryant, KdeB, KCR, SC. Designed by Dr. Phil Smith and adopted by a joint committee of the state's Scottish Societies and made official by Senate Resolution. A combination of the Logan and Skene tartans to honour the first two fur trappers to enter Utah. Sample in Scottish Tartans Authority Johnston Collection. Scottish Tartans Society notes add: It is the Logan Tartan #399 (original Scottish Tartans Society reference) with a white over check added and a blue substituted for a white. Ephraim Logan was an early visitor to Cache Valley in northern Utah in 1824 naming the river after his clan/family name.

Designer: Dr Philip D Smith Jr,
    Tartan date: 01/01/1997

Might it not be an idea to try and contact the Utah Scottish Societies, the Utah Senate Archives or, if possible, this Dr Smith. It was designed over 12 years ago - they must have intended to make some kilts with it.

    Regards

    Chas

Thanks Chas, information appreciated. I thought, perhaps, some of our Utah rabble might have the tartan as a kilt and maybe could post a pic. But good next step would be contacting the Utah Scottish Society.

    Regards,
it is one of the ones I want to get. I am guessing you would have to have the fabric specially made.

I e-mailed the Utah Scottish Association today about it. I will let you know what they say.

I have moved this Thread to the "Tartans and Heraldry" forum as it is a better fit there / here

I do like the Tartan, those who wear it, wear it proud!

Don't forget that Matt, Barb and Kathy Lare can all get small-batch runs of tartans.
