    If I recall correctly the name is listed on that census list ( Doomsday Book 1154)

    I believe it is listed on the Doomsday Roll of 1154.

    I'm descended from four different Walker lines myself, but haven't had much luck in tracing any of them back further than the 1800's, and I live in Walker County (named for someone unrelated to my families as far as I know). I've seen the red Walker tartan, and it is quite attractive. I used to have a scrap of it woven by Peter MacDonald on a handloom. If my surname was Walker, I'd definately wear it.
