    Weave your own

While trying to find other tartan weavers, I cam across this. http://www.tartanweaving.com/index.html

Yes for only $800 (Canadian) you can have any tartan you want, because you do it yourself. Though in all honesty, I don't know if you could do 8 yards yourself in 6 days.

...you know, you can raise your own sheep for the wool, too...

The funny thing is that I started reading Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations recently and one of the first things that he adresses is the specialization of labour. One of the reasons why there can be an economic system is that a person doesn't do and make everything that he needs by himself. Thanks, but I'll just remain a consumer...we joke around here about pitching it all and buying a farm and raising sheeps and weaving our own tartan...we JOKE about it...

If you're still looking for a weaver, here's one. I have a friend who ordered a Shaw Ancient from this place and it's a really nice piece of work. You can get an 8-yard kilt from them for about$416 (at today's ex. rate).
