Kirkin' of the Tartan in Annapolis

Greetings, Here is an FYI.

Anthropology Seminar members and other Friends of Scotland will be going to Annapolis on Sunday to attend a Scottish Church Service at 10:30(wear your tartan) and then a walk down by the beautiful Annapolis Harbor and meeting at 1:30 for a lunch and ceilidh(party of music and dance). The attendence is free for us since we are participating others can bring a covered dish to share.. Bring interested family members if you like. Modern or 18th century Scottish clothes.
I will meet people at CHS at9am. Other parent drivers may be needed but may not be necessary. Here are the details.

***Sunday, November 8, 2009 – Kirkin of the Tartan at First Presbyterian Church, 171 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD. Service starts at 11:00am, Chesapeake Caledonan Pipe Band will be playing outside the Church before the service – come early to hear them! Wear or bring some tartan to carry to the front of the Church for the blessing by Pastor William Hathaway.

***At 2:00pm, the same day as the Kirkin, there will be a Pot Luck and Ceilidh at the Bay Room on the Naval Station. Please bring food for your family and some to share as well. Paper goods and drinks will be supplied.

Two young men, students at St. John’s College, will be coming to play music for us, as well as Ben Williams to guide us in some simple Ceilidh dances. And Hal Cummings will drop by to play his bag pipe. Come and join the fun!!!!

Directions to the Bay Room:
-At the intersection of ROUTES 450 and 648 (at the north side of the Naval Academy Bridge), turn onto Route 648 (Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd.)
-Bear right onto GREENBURY POINT ROAD. When you come to the traffic light, go through it and travel past the USNA Golf Course and Brigade Sports Comples.
-Turn LEFT ON McClean ROAD..
-Turn RIGHT ON HOOPER HIGH ROAD.
-Turn LEFT into the parking lot of the Bachelors Enlisted Quarters
(large brick building.)
-Go through the parking lot, it stops at Bay View Avenue.
-Turn LEFT, the Bay Room will be on your right.

Hope to see YOU at one or both events on Sunday.
Meet at the Kirkin' at 10:30 and then gather at the Ceilidh(Kay-lee) for lunch, music, dance and a fun afternoon!
