| | | McMurdo coming to Franklin NC
We that being Catherine and I will be driving down to Franklin North Carolina on the 14th of April, we will be staying through the weekend and hope to make it to the Loch Norman Games for the Saturday. I was wondering though if there would be any interest in a kilt night in or around the Franklin area on the 15th or 16th? I do plan on visiting the Scottish Tartan Museum on Wednesday, April 15 or Thursday, April 16 if anyone would like to meet perhaps we could go from there.

I cannot promise my own availability in the evenings, but may I recommend the Rathskellar Coffee Haus and Pub as a venue, located just behind (and slightly to the right) of the Scottish Tartans Museum?

This really does sound like a great idea Matt, we will have to check it out once we get there. Thanks for the recommendation.

We're both willing to travel as far as Waynesville, or Asheville. Though if we do try to do this, we need enough notice so I can put my mother on notice. It would be utterly cool and convenient if it was in Franklin, but, I also understand that other than the museum and the best BBQ place on the face of the planet, there isn't much in Franklin.

I can't make it that far west during the week, but I'll definitely be at Loch Norman. Have a safe trip!

You're in for a long drive, McMurdo!
I'll have to catch up with you at Loch Norman on Saturday.

In the mid '60's my father-in-law and some of his amigos raced their cars from Washington, DC to Daytona Beach. The winning time was just a bit over 8 hours.
I hope you're more cautious than they were!
One of my brother's friends once rode his motorcycle from here in Marion, NC to Key West, FL, drank a Pepsi, and rode back, all in one day. Mapquest says that 15 hours and 33 minutes, so I guess, technically speaking, it was spread over two days.
