Blacksmithing in a Kilt.

To each their own I guess......

I wear a leather welding jacket which is great for protecting you from sparks and hot slag, I imagine the leather kilt would provide similar protection.

I just wouldn't want a nice leather kilt to look anything like my welding leathers......A kilt is too special of a thing to subject to that kind of environment.

Are we all looking at the same picture? The only picture I see with the news clip shows a maniquin wearing Scottish dress, the stark white plastic legs is a give away. And this picture is not backwards what looks like apron fringe, looks more like the fringe of a really low fly plaid. If you are all talking about another picture please point it out.

I sure as heck wouldn't want to do any forge welding whilst in a kilt!! We're talking half-molten metal and sparks flying everywhere.

I for one like my kilts and there's so much you can do while building gates and rails that would ruin a good kilt......take a look in my dresser drawer and you'll see my clothes with the gaping burn holes.

With that said.....Kilts and blacksmithing are 2 things I have a great fondness for, so too bad he's down there in Texas instead of Oregon as this blacksmith/welder would love to work with him :-)

He probably wears a smithy's apron to protect the kilt.
