Need some green flashes, QUICK!!!

Hello!!!

I have had the misfortune of dealing with Clansman Knitwear. I ordered some flashes 4 months ago and I have yet to receive them. I have called and e-mailed exhaustively with no result. Anyway, my problem is that I am getting married next weekend out at RenFest. I would like to have some flashes and am wondering if there is some place in the Houston area where I can get them. I am in the Spring area but can travel anywhere in the area. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. I am looking for green flashes. If anyone knows where I can get Kennedy tartan flashes, that's a bonus!

If all else fails as far as a local place goes you might be able to order from USAKilts. I would talk to Rocky first to see if it's possible though.

You could also go down to your local fabric store and get some green grosgrain ribbon in green, and simply wrap them around your legs like traditional garter ties.

If you don't want the traditional garter tie look, you can also make "notched, flat" flashes from ribbon or belting products found at fabric stores. I recently made some red ones from cotton belting. Elastic garters are easily sewn up -- I used plastic snap fasteners, IIRC they are called "parachute buckles" or you can fasten them with Velcro.

There is also a post on this forum from Barb T regarding flashes from tartan, using a product called Steam-a-Lite 2 (again IIRC) if you have tartan scraps or can find green fabric in the color you need. But the ribbon versions look fine and are a lot less time/cost/work.

Good luck with this and congratulations on the big event!

I have made the ribbon ones as well. Takes about a half hour and they look great.

Tom, try British Isles in the Rice Village; 713-522-6868, they don't a lot of kilt stuff, but worth a try.
