I wish you more than luck; I wish you success, ColMac. I have someone who may be of some help. She is always involved in promoting anything regarding a Scottish-Texas connection. I will PM you with her name and email.

Greetings,
I've been off the board for a while now, but I believe this is a great cause, I would be honored to participate depending on my work schedule. I have some connections to the S.A.M.S. myself. I do not have any military background, but respect those who have served, and would be an honor them. Feel free to contact me via PM if you would like and I'll give you an e-mail to contact me at.
I would like to see the kilt worn the Texas Bluebonnet, as it represents Texas well. But the others are nice as well, a Hunting Wallace would be nice also.

Gentlemen,
We will have a meeting, probably in September, to discuss this matter in person. A few days after the meeting we will have some rifle familiarization.
In the meantime, we can continue to talk about the Texas Highland Rifles in this forum.
Thanks, ColMac

| | | Texas Highland Rifles Uniform
We need to start putting a uniform together.
Balmoral or Glengarry (diced or undiced & color)
Khaki Shirts (silver tan)
Belt (brown or black)
Buckle (chrome or brass)
5 yard Kilt (tartan - I think we should pick from Burnett & Struth specials)
Hose tops (diced color)
Spats (white or tan)
Shoes (brown or black)
Your opinions please.
Our first event could be the DFW National Cemetery, Veterans Day in November
Cheers, Colmac
(my personal preferences are brown leather shoes & belts, tan spats, brass buckles, & red/black diced - but don't let that dissuade you from your own opinions)
(bluebonnet tartan is nice, but more max visual impact, I think we need some red in our kilts)
-Late Addition-
William Scott, one of the first Texas settlers, donated the cloth for the first Lone Star flag - would be a good red tartan for us http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William...(Texas_settler)

Here are my preferences:
Balmoral, undiced/black,
Shirt color would depend on tartan,
Black belt/shoes (could change prference based on tartan),
Chrome buckle (could change preference based on tartan),
I think the Texas Bluebonnet tartan would be really cool, but otherwise I agree red should be in the tartan,
Red/black diced hose top, and
White spats to complement gloves.

Perhaps you might find more info about this unit if you reviewed information on Confederate units during the Civil War or even the Texas STATE Guard, a non-federal unit that is currently active today. I am a former SFC from the TSG and served on the color guard of my unit. We did the Dallas Adolphis Christmas Parade for several years as well as others. We did only one funeral however, lack of equipment if you know what I mean. Keep me posted as to your intentions, if time permits I would participate.
